The Wyrm's Wing is a shy and new player friendly venue. We're dedicated to bringing in people interested in learning roleplay. We have no requirements for post style or length, and instead try to offer a friendly and welcoming place to learn and practice! If you are someone looking to learn or trying to get into the scene, feel free to message the bartender and let them know! We can answer questions you might have or engage in a light bit of RP to get you started.Guests are also welcome to just sit, relax, and read along. Participate at your own speed, all are welcome here!

When you're just starting out, many things are unfamiliar. While the Wing has no style requirements, here are some common elements you may encounter when roleplaying:

Quotes [" "]
These are used when your character is speaking. Just like in books or movies, putting dialogue in quotation marks helps differentiate spoken words from actions or thoughts.
Holly Hyur: "Can you chew any louder?" She scowled with a pointed glare across the dinner table.
Out-of-Character/OOC Brackets [(( ))]
Sometimes, you'll need to step out of the story to clarify something, ask a quick question, or chat with other roleplayers. This communication is typically done inside a doubled set of parenthesis.
M'aya Miqo'te: ((Going afk for a drink, brb!))
Emotes [/em] or [/emote]
This command lets you describe your character's actions, thoughts, or emotions outside of dialogue. The /em command will begin with your characters name.
Example: Evelyn Elezen leans against the bar, swirling her drink absentmindedly as she watches the patrons filter in.
(Remember that the command adds your name, so the actual command would start: /em leans against the bar...)
Walk-Up and Tell [WU/T]
WU/T is a commonly used acronym to indicate that this person is willing to roleplay with new partners on the spot. You are free to whisper them and see if they'd like to start a roleplay!
WU/T with Tag - this is similar to WU/T, but means they only want to roleplay if they already have the RP status on their namebar. To toggle your own roleplaying status, use: ∕roleplaying

Roleplay Types

Remember that consent in public spaces involves more than your roleplay partner(s). Everyone present should be comfortable reading the contents of public chat.Don't be afraid to move things to Party/Tells if the subject matter changes.

SFW∕RPThis one is very simple, Safe For Work RP. This kind of roleplay shouldn't have inappropriate content or need for content warnings. Think of it as a PG-13 movie. This roleplay should be acceptable to read with a younger player present.
M∕RPMature Roleplay, this is a broad category - it is SFW most of the time, but indicates that with proper consent participants may be okay with adult topics. As always, discuss content warnings with your roleplay partners.

This type of roleplay is usually appropriate, but can and does move to whispers or party chat when those subjects come up.
E∕RPErotic Roleplay, this is sexual/sensual NSFW roleplay. This kind of roleplay should only take place in private, between explicitly consenting parties. Public E/RP is against TOS, and risks penalty on your account.
